cameramen/women have a set of rules to their job, they can take pictures and whatnot, but they do not have the authority to interfere in anyway of foreign people, be it positive or negative
seeing this really broke my heart.
it shouldn't take this picture to tug on your heart strings re poverty stricten people. If you didnt know there were people starving to death in Africa by now you must have your head in the sand.
When was the last time you did anything to help these people?

I don't understand how someone would rather choose suicide than getting fired for interfering with the photography topic. He could have helped the boy and lost his job. That seems much less drasic than watching a vulture eat a baby then taking your own life.
last week i went for a lunch at a 5-star hotel. and i saw a lot of UNICEF people booked tables to have lunch there too. there goes our money...spent at a hotel where it should have been used to save this poor little boy.

The photographer was kevin carter which is what the manic street preachers song was about, he actually landed in a red cross helicopter dropping off food supplies. The child was just having a rest, the parents were out of shot along with many others

and in defense for the cameraman. rules are rules. honestly how many of you would risk your job in this economy to help a kid one time when you could help hundreds by donating. and it doesnt have to be a big donation. ANY donation works.

Wow do some research....he took this picture to show the world famine...the child had the parents near by and they were picking up food from the UN so she ended up fine at the time and fed by the wonderful people at the UN. He scared the vulture away at the picture.

Also- Kevin killed himself 2 months after taking this picture, not 3 days. And while this event probably was partially to blame, it was just a small part of what caused his depression. So don't believe that "taking THIS pic is why he killed himself"- that would be stretching the truth pretty far.

The picture speaks a thousand words. This picture is very heart breaking. As it is, we as human beings can do something about it. Starvation is not just happening in Africa, but through out the world. Post your comment's, but in the end...such tragedies can be prevented if enough people really care about making those changes. It's not just about 1 child that is starving to death...I've been around the world a few times...I've seen worse and I got used to it.

this really breaks my heart to see. its sad that the photographer didnt do anything even though there was rules that he had had to go by. what is even more sadi is that he had to commit suicide, god would not of want any of this. unfortunetly this is what happens every day in the world, just not africa. i love photography but in this case i would hope that i would do something about it, in regards to something like this, screw the rules! in some cases the rules should be violated, just like this one. i hope that this can be a wake up call for people.

Hey,the photographer shote this picture from long distance, secondly the guy was evacuating because the place where he staying was attacked, and he know nothing what had actually happend after a couple of minute he shot the picture but atleast he show to the world what is happning in sudan.
